So, about six months ago, one of my friends showed up at the gym with a set of battle ropes. What are those? Basically it’s a big long rope that you loop around some stationary object. I’ve also seen ones where it’s actually two ropes coming out of a box.
You grab the ends of the ropes, and then there are a bunch of different exercises you can try. I’ll include a video to demonstrate; I don’t have a lot of experience with the ropes, but I’d say this sort of usage is pretty typical.
I gave it a try, and could barely keep the momentum going for more than 15-20 seconds! The rope is fairly heavy, and the action is difficult to keep going. On the plus side, it works EVERYTHING. I could feel the burn all the way from my thighs up to my arms, especially in my abs. I’ve tried it a few times since, and I can do it in bursts of about 30 seconds. I’d like to buy one of these ropes for home use so I can get good at using it and improve my core strength at the same time.
