I know this isn’t exactly fitness related, but I just want to go on record as saying slow cookers are the best thing ever!
I made a huge pot of chicken-pork-scallop jambalaya a few days ago. All the ingredients cost me about $40. After I pulled dinner and two lunches out of the pot over a couple of days, I prepared one more lunch and portioned the rest for freezing.
If you’re counting along, I got 10 meals out of it at a cost of roughly $4 per meal. What a great investment. Never mind the jambalaya tasted great!
I can post the recipe if anyone is interested, but honestly, I tweak it every time. I tend to like it a little spicy, so I add some diced jalapenos instead of regular peppers. A few ingredients are constant: black beans, rice, diced onions and diced tomatoes.
I’ve prepared many delicious meals using that slow cooker. I find it also helps me stretch my food budget as I’m able to prepare so many lunches with it. When I add in the fact that I’ve found literally thousands of recipes online that I’d like to try, I think I can safely say my slow cooker is my favourite kitchen appliance! Sorry, Magic Bullet.
